2009年，主持「預約下一個十年：臺灣愛滋感染者用藥經驗問卷調查發表記者會」，代表愛滋病友表達用藥經驗及修法意見。

楊惠中代表中華民國愛滋感染者權益促進會(臺灣第一個由愛滋感染者和她/他們的家屬、朋友，以及認同人權的社會人士所發起，長期投入愛滋平權運動)為愛滋病友發聲、反應實況，發表臺灣愛滋用藥經驗調查結果。該研究調查/臺灣經驗獲2010年奧地利維也納國際愛滋病大會的邀請，報告臺灣愛滋感染者的醫療人權狀況。

Background

It is announced that all PLHIV in Taiwan are provided with HAART and medical care in a low fee. Taiwanese government is very proud of this policy, and argues that Taiwanese PLHIV have been taken care very much. According to Taiwan CDC’s (Center for Disease Control) record, 60% of PLHIV had sought for HIV-related medical care during 2005.

However, in our practice, the number of PLHIV who have used HAART is much lower than those shown on official report.

So this study aims to understand local Taiwanese PLHIV's experiences of using HAART.

Method

Self-completion questionnaire developed by PRAATW was used.

The PLHIV involved in this study were contacted in different sites, such as, HIV/AIDS wards in hospitals, NGOs, or prisons.

The study period was during July ~ November 2009.

Characteristics of the sample

1,058 Taiwanese PLHIV answered the questionnaire.
Gender: Male 87.4%; Female 12.6%.
The median years of being infected with HIV: 3.65 yrs. (range from one month to 21 years)
Areas of living:

Northern Taiwan: 58.2%; Central Taiwan:21.3%

Southern Taiwan:19.5%; Eastern Taiwan: 1.0%
